my new favourite book!

hey everyone!
so today i thought i'd share with you my new favourite book - and as you can probably see by the pictures, it's one day by david nicholls!
i finished this book quite a while ago, and i'm not going to do a whole review on it but basically it's about two characters - emma and dexter (em and dex) - and each chapter is covers their lives on the 15th July every year for 20 years - from the night they leave university onwards.
it's such a lovely story, and me being a sucker for this kind of girly books was in my element. i leant it to my friend and she was totally addicted to it aswell!
i think the way david nicholls wrote this was fantastic, which is why straight after i read 'the understudy' and am currently reading 'starter for ten' by him also, which are both fantastic books, but the story of one day is just so great that it's definitely become my favourite book!

i need recommendations though! if you guys like these kind of books, what do you recommend i read? i'm thinking of reading 'never let me go' next, as i love reading books that are films too! i've heard the hunger games are really good, but i don't know if i'd enjoy them, i don't know if they're my kind of style of book? if you're into the same books i read and have read the hunger games, let me know your thoughts because i'm undecided whether to read them or not!

my first mac purchase!

hey everyone!
so i thought i'd blog about my first EVER mac purchase because it's all very exciting and i've wanted something from there for ages. it's not exactly very new, i got it just after christmas when i went to london but just forgot to blog about it!

the item is modesty lipstick which to be fair, i haven't heard much about on blogs or youtube, it's not exactly as popular as lipsticks like angel and shy girl etc, but i do love it very much - its a very 'your lips but better' sort of colour!
i had no idea what i wanted to get when i went into mac (i went to the one in carnaby street.) one of the ladies came over and i was literally like 'show me a lipstick that would suit me,' and when she showed me modesty i was a bit doubtful because it's quite brown (swatch doesn't do it justice!) but when she put it on me i instantly fell in love! and it smells like cake and vanilla, yum. its a cremesheen finish - do they all smell like this?! and it's very long lasting which is brill!
it cost me £13.50 which is obviously a lot of money for a lipstick but i was using christmas money and i've wanted a mac lippie for ages and i thought why the hell not?!

what was your first mac purchase? or what do you want to be your first mac purchase?

catch up!

hey everyone!
so i thought i'd do another catch up as i feel like i haven't blogged in ages, even though its only been a week hehe! but its been half term and even though i haven't been very busy, i still haven't managed to blog?! i like doing these writing posts where i just babble on, and i'm going to draft some other posts today so i thought i'd start with this one! :-)

1. i went shopping in brighton with my friend chloe on wednesday but i didn't actually buy anything. mainly because our main reason for going was to have our first nandos! it was reaaaally good. we both had a chicken breast in pitta and chips, and we had the medium heat which i still thought was very spicy! we had a good day other than nandos though! i didn't actually see anything clothing wise, i think its because all the shops are between seasons!

2. i was planning on having a massive chilling day on thursday, that was until about 12:30, and by about 1:15 i'd had my tragus pierced! it was very random. my cousin's girlfriend was getting it done so i went with her and got it done! my mum thought i was only going for moral support and was shocked when i came home with it pierced! she was okay with it, i don't think she thought i was going to get it done though haha! it bloody hurt, they didn't numb it because they said it's so quick they wouldn't need to, and they pierced it with just a plain ball which actually keeps coming off so i may go and get some nice ones to put on it!

3. on friday my friend jemma came round and we watched 'get him to the greek' which i thought was nowhere near as good as arthur (the russell brand version,) i'm probably biased because it's my favourite film but still! it was quite funny, but quite random and weird at the same time!

4. i slept round my friend jess' last weekend and we both woke to the news that whitney houston had died, which is very sad! i'm not gonna sit here and say i was a massive fan or follower of her music because i wasn't, and obviously she had an amazing voice but i never listened to her music, but it's still very sad. on a more positive note, me and jess had a good time watching take me out and chilling out hehe!

5. back to school tomorrow, ugh. i feel like its getting far too serious for my liking now! gcse's and all that jazz. and the thought of getting up at 7am 5 days a week actually makes me want to cry. ahhh well! it's got to be done!

hope you all had a good week

boots tea tree and witch hazel foaming face wash review

hey everyone!
so today i thought i'd review my new face wash - the boots tea tree and witch hazel foaming face wash!
now before i get on to the review, i thought i'd give a quick background on my skin. i've never had any major troubles with my skin, i get blackheads quite bad on my chin and around my mouth, i don't get spots normally but when i do they are on my cheeks close to my nose, and that's where my skin is oiliest. my forehead doesn't get oily at all, and my chin only gets a little bit oily. the worst thing i find about my skin is the fact that i have quite bad redness around my nose and my skin is just generally pink which makes it hard for me to find good blushes!
i thought i'd review this because it's not a popular brand like simple or neutrogena, but its still just as good! i brought this at the beginning of december and i've used it pretty much everyday since i brought it!
i've found it really does help to keep my skin clear, and before my skin was quite uneven and this has really sorted that out! i'd heard that the ingredients tea tree and witch hazel are really good for your skin, and this has definitely proved that right!
i also love how its so simple to use - i just splash my face with warm water to open my pores, put this on, then wash it off with cold water to close my pores. i then follow it up with the simple light moisturiser
the only critisism i have is the pump, because i find it tends to pump out too much, but the product only cos around the £3 mark, so if it was more this would be a bigger problem!
i really do think this has helped to keep my skin clear, its so simple but so effective!

i recommend it highly - 5/5 :-)

catch up!

hey everyone!
thought i'd do a little catch up post, because i wanted to blog but i didn't know what about! so lets have a little natter shall we, things that you don't care about but i want to get off my chest - enjoy! ;D

1. i swear in year 10 & 11 - 11 especially - school work and exams and all that jazz takes over your life. seriously, i've got so much going on with school at the moment, its like one thing ends and another begins! i've got my second spanish speaking exam later in the month so it will be good to get that out of the way because that will be 60% of my whole gcse done, then i just have the reading and listening to worry about, but thats not until may or june.
also, we got our exam timetables for may and june the other day and it seriously hit home. how i hate exams! i'm just glad i'm doing btec science cos there's so many module exams so that's one less thing to worry about i guess! :-) and maths. do not get me started. i'm doing higher and cannot get a c! it's peeing me off now! school rant over.

2. leading on from that, i've found a new hobby - baking. i'm seriously into baking right now i don't even know, maybe its my obsession with cakes? hehe. but i was thinking of doing baking posts on here so if you're interested comment below! i also really want to do fashion and music posts on here - i LOVE fashion and music, i just wanted to know if you're interested in the music side of things? and with fashion, i want to do ootds but 1. i don't have a tripod and 2. i'm scared to ask people to take pictures of my outfits hehe.

3. new obsession = ipod apps. particularly temple run which i think is everyone's favourite at the moment! its just so addictive i find myself pressing 'run again' about 10 times! my highest score is 1,000,000 i think which i'm major proud of. but my friend's is like 4,000,000. cool.
also i'm loving where's my water which is such fun! it's a disney game and i highly recommend it! :D

4. author love = david nicholls. i read one day a few months ago and it quickly became one of my favourite books! so then i found the understudy and that's amazing too. now i've just started starter for ten but i've only read a couple of chapters so i can't really judge it. have you got any book recommendations? i like one day, the luxe series, time traveller's wife - books like that :D

hope you're all well!
